i don’t have answers for death
just silence
just sadnessas my grandfather rolls over in his bed
refuses food
and asks to be left aloneso he can die
quietly
peacefullyif there is such a thing
as i sit
in an old rocking chair
he once built
with his own handsand watch
as death stares from the windowsmiling
waiting
patientlyfor my grandfather’s time
to finally comeand go.

Yup.
I’m sorry.
take care.
When I read this I had a hard time trying not to cry. I just lost my aunt recently and this describes so well how helpless you feel when someone you love dies.
Oh Thomas, I am so sorry. I’m sending peaceful thoughts your way.
I’m sorry . . . read him your poetry so he’ll have beautiful images to take with him on his journey.
Sad. I’m glad I read this.
@designandart - @secretxxkeeper - @jacksoncroons - @heart_beep - @sheswearingdreams - @alltimelow22 - @MyHomeIsWriting - @HereLiesNelsontheGreat - thank you all. he’s led a good life. big family, great provider; his time is at the end, it’s understandable, it just doesn’t make it any easier. thanks for your support.
Though it comes to us all, how hard it is to let go.
This is exactly what happened with my grandfather this fall. Three weeks ago we lost him.
