i sat in the car with you for a long time
it was winter
things were coldwe could see the air
the way sunlight would reflect
off of windows
snow
and other carsi smiled
you laughed
we talkedabout poets
writers
musici wanted you so badly
wanted to kiss you
hold youtell you who i was
and why i am
the way i amand as windows fogged up
you wrote one word on the inside glass“why?”
why now
why with you
why?i swallowed pride
thoughts
life
and leaned in
with subtle persuasionkissed you on the cheek
told you i would always love you
and said goodbyesnow crunching under my feet
as i lit a cigarette
and pulled my collar uparound my neck.

This reminds me of a Dan Fogelberg song of 30 years ago (Same Auld Lang Syne).
vivid imagery!
i like this one very much.

wise choice.
leaned in with subtle persuasion . . . I like that. I like it a lot.
You have such amazing imagery, it’s ridiculous.
@AmeSoeur - thank you. more importantly, i’m glad you didn’t leave.
@thomas_michael - I did kind of leave. No more posting and such, but I… can’t leave the poetry. I just can’t!
iv actually been there.. to an extent… i miss it… i miss him…aww now im sad lol
Beautiful.
not to be repetitive of pretty much everyone else haha, but oh well. This is beautiful.
Suggestion: “the why i am” instead of ‘and’. But its preferencible. I guess i just like silliness with words :p
